Photographing Karla Homolka: Zoran Milich's Story

Karla Homolka by Zoran Milich

Globe trotting photographer Zoran Milich was enlisted by Paula Todd to capture the image of the blonde beast living in the sweltering jungle that is Guadeloupe. Driven by the desire to assure himself, as a father, that convicted serial killer Karla Homolka's days of murdering children are well behind her, the acclaimed photog spent four days suffering the cruel environmental conditions before he was able to capture this partially obscured image of Homolka with her child.

Milich has just published his own account of the experience on Reuters; a must-read for anyone who is interested in the medium and/or the case:

  1. I wonder if she has fled Guadeloupe yet - it's a small island, local reporters should have been going nuts w/ her discovery. Her apartment bldg although remote, could not be that hard to find especially for locals who are familiar w/ the island. Maybe she is hiding out w/ Logan Valentini & her family although it would be pretty stupid on their part to bring danger onto themselves like that. I hope" Karly Curls"is unable to change her name legally again or be granted access to another country. France might take her in. Whatever, I just hope she is found again soon & her and her children hounded. Yes, her children too. Kristen French, Leslie Mahaffy & Jane Doe's childhoods were stolen from them, why shouldn't theirs? It's only fair.

    1. Hi, Anon:

IMO, the only thing that would have been "fair" is if Homolka had received a prison sentence comparable to Bernardo's. They were partners, after all. While I have my suspicions that Karla was the killing force, we can only assume that it was an equal partnership without concrete proof otherwise.

I hate this woman's guts, but I don't want to see any more kids die because of her.

    2. This being said, I don't feel that simply speaking about them as we are doing here places them in any direct danger, so I make no apologies for continuing to post about her life & crimes :)

  2. True, but the way I see it, those kids were in danger the minute they were born because of who their mother is & the sad thing is, nothing will change that. I dont think that exposing their identities will put them in any more danger than they already are. In fact, it could make them safer the more people are aware. Homolka is a child rapist & murderer lest we forget. There are pics posted of her kids on BabyCenter & her website BebeDouceur, courtesy of Homolka herself. I don't think she's too concerned about her children's safety.

    1. Anon: I agree with you; Karla should have known better than to post pics of her kids online. Every mother should be careful about this sort of thing for obvious reasons, but her being who she is should have caused her to be even more cautious.

There are still a few pics of her children left online, however, she did make a point of going back and removing most of them once she was officially "outed" there. Methinks the remaining pics are only there because she forgot them.

For the record, I've saved every photo of her children that I've come across, but I don't plan on posting any of them here at any time for any reason. Karla can continue to blame herself, not me :)

  3. i have some compassion on the children. they are probably completely unaware of any of their mothers' past. from what Todd's book says, it sounds like the children are very well taken care of and looked after. cheers for that. every child deserves dignity and kindness.

  4. while the absolute last thing that i would ever want to do would offend or upset anyone involved in this case, i do harbor this desire to write a book called "the forgotten sister" about Lori and her part and struggle in all of this. I feel that she was probably tossed to the wayside on so many occasions involving these cases and her life. Someone out there is interested. Not interested in exploiting or misrepresenting anything. Just interested in how Lori was affected.

  6. Curious about how Lori Homolka's life? Just look her up under her new name on Facebook, Logan Valentini. Or find her through her husband Dominic Valentinis profile. Lori/Logan even has photos posted for the public to see, of Karla's 4 y/o daughter Aurelie Bordelais. This family does not know how to keep a low profile.

  7. I doubt anyone is going to bother her and certainly not her family as they have nothing to do with her history. I don't know if it was a good idea for that reporter to go there and I am surprised Karla even talked to her knowing what she was all about. Was it really a good idea to expose her and were she lives. I don't think she is any threat now. yes I know she brought this on herself but she did do 12 years and it's not just about her now she has kids and a husband who don't need this kind of attention.
I have no idea what kind of people are living around her and her family and if they will make problems for her or not but there are bound to be people who are not comfortable with her being there I'm sure.

  8. Karla Homolka aka Leanne Bordelais will always be followed & tracked down. She signed up for that the day she stepped out of prison.

  9. It will be interesting when the press starts tracking her kids. They should be interviewed every 2-5 years to see how they are developing with a serial killer for a mother.

  10. I am mad she married and has her own little family something her little sister can't have. She should of done life, there's people in jail who innocent or did something small that sat in jail longer than her. She really got away with murder, 12 years ain't shit. Her sister alone she should of done 20+. The system in certain states just make no sense, a rapist and murders serve less time than a lot of people who done smaller issues. I wouldn't talk bad about the kids it not their fault. She has to live with blood on her hands for the rest of her life.

  11. The real problem here is the law. The cops had tapes of what these two dirt ball sickos did. They both should have been executed. She married Paul after they killed her sister & demanded a fairy tale princess wedding (saw Picts online) within a short period of time after her sisters death. When Paul kept on her because she wasn't a virgin, she is the one that came up w the idea as a birthday gift to him to give him her little sister. Her idea. When he gave her the inkling he wanted to have sex w her sister she should have ran out the door & never looked back. But no she offers up her sister steals drugs from where SHE worked & SHE over dosed her sister. Two of a kind. Then she gets 12 years when she is on tape molesting the girls they kidnapped & SHE yelled at Paul for allowing one of the girls to drink out of their good wedding Crystal! She's as bad as him. 12 years for numerous murders & rapes is a joke! I wonder if her parents didn't have money & she was butt ugly if she wouldn't have got life in prison. Then her lawyers brother marries her? What kind of sick loser is he? I agree she doesn't deserve to have children & I would never ever wish any harm on any child but what sentence would she want to give a person that raped and killed one of her kids? Or would she think that's ok? People rarely change. I never wish bad things on others but karma is a bitch - so I so hope - maybe what she did to those girls should be done to her! Eye for eye

  12. Those of us who lived thru the hell and remember the victims wish her a life of pure hell. Paul Bernardo never started to kill until he met Karla. The most deranged thing she could do is have children to torture them with a life of shame and harrasment. If she had an ounce of compassion and decency she would kill herself and to her parents who support her wedding gift of her sister to her Paul ... may they also rot in hell!
