Magnotta Lawyers in Pre-Preliminary Hearing

Lawyers representing Ridiculousness Incarnate (aka Luka Magnotta) will be in a Montreal court today in order to begin sorting out details of their clients preliminary hearing slated to begin on March 11, 2013.

Ridiculousness himself is not required or expected to be present during today's proceedings, but given his insatiable hunger for notoriety, anything is possible.

Update: The accused killer formerly known as Eric Newman decided to appear. What a freaking surprise.

  1. Its really too bad he was not apprehended on the animal cruelty before he escalated to human prey.

What do you think about Kayla Bourque being released? It appears that the judge was not too happy about it. Put some pretty strict restrictions on her, but feels that she is definitely a danger.

    1. hmm...then I post that and it shows up...anyway are you going to be blogging during his trial? I just found this spot while looking up Bernardo/Homolka. Never heard anything about either. I live in the US and would like to follow the trial. From what I am finding most high profile cases have a ban. Thanks :)

    2. Oh yes, I will be following Magnotta's case (and more than likely blogging about it). You're right though; the publication ban will definitely slow the flow of information but once the trial is actually in motion more news will become available.

      Cheers!

    3. Thank you :)
I do have another question. Why after all of these years is there still a ban on Paul Bernardo? How come he isn't allowed interviews by journalist's?

    4. The ban on Bernardo is different, the order is part of his correctional plan. Based upon his psychological profile, it is thought that communicating with and through the media would negatively affect his treatment.

I support the restrictions placed on him, but it's a little nonsensical to call it "treatment" as he isn't receiving any special attention or programming whatsoever. It's highly unlikely that he will ever be released, so why bother trying to rehabilitate someone who won't ever see the outside? Furthermore, all the available scientific literature indicates that psychopaths cannot be rehabilitated.

On occasion, we hear from Bernardo through his lawyers, but he is not allowed to speak for himself.

    5. I respect that you are in support of the restrictions. Evidently his so called treatment isn't getting through to him as he calls these horrific assault's and murder's mistakes. Additional questions I have about him or her will be under the appropriate post. :) I look forward to future conversations.

    6. Yeah, I noticed that, too. Karla was "young and stupid," and Paul "made some mistakes." Utterly unbelievable that they're both talking about murder.
